Pence Creates Blogosphere Buzz at SRLC

Rep. Mike Pence of Indiana is getting a lot of attention in the rightosphere following his speech at the Southern Republican Leadership Conference. Before getting to what everyone is saying, here’s what Pence said:

ARRA News Service says:

In the aftermath of his speech, many people were asking, will Mike Pence run for president in 2012.

I would have no problem casting a ballot for Mike Pence. When he was in the RFC Radio booth at CPAC, he came across as a genuinely nice guy. I mean, he was doing an interview with a guy with a mohawk. How down to Earth is that?

doubleplusundead is ready to have Pence’s kids.

Liberty Pundits calls it:

Um, okay. If ever a Congressman was running for President, it was Mike Pence. The crowd loved him and he was unabashedly conservative.

Nothing wrong with that. We could use a little more unabashedly conservative Republicans in Congress.

Flopping Aces has transcribed some of their favorite bits from his speech.

Ed Morrissey at Hot Air writes:

The mood here at the SLRC is almost entirely focused on 2010, not 2012, which given the analyses of it earlier in the week, is a bit surprising. But Pence does nothing here to harm his chances if he decides to make a run for higher office

I like Mike. Given the chance, I would support his candidacy. But first, let’s win back Congress.

Once thing at a time.

I’ve been a Pence fan for a long time… but I suspect he is more inclined to continue his vital work in the House rather than make a run for the Presidency – and I’d support him in that role! We NEED a leader like Pence in the House.

I also think Sarah Palin is serving the movement well in her current roles and think she too will NOT pursue a presidential run – and I’d recommend she not pursue the presidency as she is – at least in the current environment – unelectable despite the LOVE she feels from many conservatives.

My pick for a conservative Dream-Team would be DeMint-Bachmann!! Two strong conservatives who are fearless in their espousing conservative ideals and ideas – and who clearly and articulately make their cases. They’re young, relevant, attractive, and not seen as “old-boys-network” Republican candidates. They have IDEAS and can show how and why they’ll work. They’re energetic. They have name recognition. They are HATED by the radical left (a selling point!) but not hamstrung by the ridicule that Palin has endured. They can WIN, and we wouldn’t have to hold our noses to vote FOR them as opposed to simply voting AGAINST their opponent!

    Who’s with me on this?

I found that Mike Pence seems like a genuine fellow. I will do more research on his work in Indiana, but if his rhetoric is matched with a strong background; I would see no problem with him leading a downsizing of our national government.
