I read on Michelle Malkin’s site that Kit Bond (R-MO) was sitting on the fence concerning this immigration bill. I have met Kit Bond. He toured the USS Abraham Lincoln while I served aboard her. I had lunch with him and about ten other Show-Me Sailors.
So I reached out to Kit via e-mail:
Senator Bond,
It is my understanding that you are sitting on the fence concerning this immigration bill. Sir, as a registered Republican voter, I encourage you to vote against cloture. If the vote for cloture passes, Sir, I encourage you to work for the people of the United States by respecting the borders, language and culture that has made America great.
Illegal immigration is doing a great deal of damage to the USA. First things first. Secure the border. Then the nation will trust you to do what is right. But I cannot trust the Congress to do what they say they will do. You, sir, will have to show me.
Very Respectfully,
Duane Lester
I also let him know I was posting it here. I’ll let you know if I see any Washington, D.C. IP addresses show up. And I’ll post his response, if there is one. Sam Graves has yet to respond. Maybe I need to call him tomorrow.
By the way, the freshman Senator, Claire McCaskill has got her head on straight on this issue. What is Kit’s hesitation from, I wonder?
