I received an e-mail from the Executive Director of the Missouri Republican Party, Mr. Lloyd Smith. It was addressed to “Dear Conservative,” so I guess he means me. One of these days, Republicans will figure out technology.
Anyway, Lloyd wanted to tell me that the Missouri Republican Party is listening:
Hundreds of Missourians wrote, called, and emailed their State Senators and State Representatives and said that Democrats in Washington are ignoring them. Well, Missouri Republicans are listening.
Hundreds?
Hundreds?
1.4 million Missourians voted for Sen. John McCain in 2008, many of them, like myself, requiring the help of Johnny Walker and his brothers Blackie and Red.
Thousands turned out for the Kansas City Tea Party alone. Thousands more turned out in St. Louis.
I’m sure that more than hundreds of Show-Me Staters called and told their Congressmen and Senators to keep their hands off their health care.
Hundreds…pfft. That’s insulting.
I am proud to report that Republicans in the Missouri Senate passed legislation to give YOU the final say in federal control of health care. Once there is final approval by the House, when you go to the ballot box later this year, YOU will get to decide if the government can force you to participate in their health care system.
Hmmm…the Missouri Republicans gave me the final say? No, I don’t think so.
I think a few other folks gave me that gift a couple hundred years ago. It’s called the Tenth Amendment:
The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.
Rather than passing a bill giving me what I already have, how about passing a bill with a little more, oh, what’s the word…chutzpah?
How about a little nullification?
When you get that done, hit me up for some cash.
