Schultz Wonders If Troops Sent To Border Have "Shoot to Kill" Orders, Troops Not Even Enforcing Immigration Laws

President Obama has sent the heads of both sides of the political spectrum spinning by sending 1,220 troops to the US-Mexico border. First up, MSNBC’s Ed Schultz, who wonders if the troops have been given order to “shoot to kill:

ED SCHULTZ: Let’s move now to Illinois congressman Luis Gutierrez, member of the Hispanic Caucus. Congressman, how do you feel about the troops being on the border, and give us some clarification: what are they there for? . . . Are they going to be doing a law-enforcement mission, or are they doing a military mission, and are they going to be involved in some real high-tech operations? I think there’s a real disconnect. We understand border security, but, I mean, is this shoot-to-kill? What is this?

Now, if that’s not asinine enough, consider this: the troops on the border are not enforcing immigration laws. They’re there to stop the non-existant flow of guns from America to Mexico, and stop the drugs from coming to America from Mexico:

US National Guard troops being sent to the Mexican border will be used to stem the flow of guns and drugs across the frontier and not to enforce US immigration laws, the State Department said Wednesday.

The clarification came after the Mexican government urged Washington not to use the additional troops to go after illegal immigrants.

No, Mexico. Why would we do something like protect ourselves from invasion? That’s just crazy talk. This is going to cause heads on the right to start spinning.
