This is the kind of guy that Vincente Fox wants us to let into our country. He certainly thinks that if we try to keep child molesters out that we’re xenophobes and racists.

A convicted sex offender was arrested Wednesday night after he tried to cross the United States border.

This was the second time Mateo Cruz-Cruz, 25, tried to illegally cross the border.

Cruz-Cruz jumped a fence east of the Douglas port of entry with a group of illegal immigrants when authorities arrested him, spokeswoman Dove Haber of the U.S. Customs and Border Protection said.

When Cruz-Cruz was brought back to the station, agents noticed the man had burned his fingertips off. Authorities believe he did this in an attempt to conceal his identity.

Officials believe U.S. Customs and Border Protection has been getting more effective in apprehensions.

“We do sometimes see quite extreme attempts to falsify people’s identity,” Haber said. “They’re getting more desperate in their attempts to evade detection.”

U.S. Customs and Border Protection tried several times to determine Cruz-Cruz’s identity by using his burnt fingertips. When that proved to be unsuccessful, the protection agency used Cruz-Cruz’s biographical information and discovered his identity and that he’s had prior convictions.

Cruz-Cruz received a criminal conviction for sexual assault of a minor in Iowa in 2004. He was deported after his sentence was reduced.

Cruz-Cruz was being held in custody with criminal charges of illegal entry. He will have to go through a trial and will likely receive jail time, Haber said.

I know, I know. We need people like this to molest children that Americans are too lazy to molest. Maybe if we told the Sierra Club he was molesting lizards in the Arizona desert, they’d help us deport him.
