Like the good socialist that she is, Hillary Clinton refused to accept the failures of a government run entitlement system, even one as obviously doomed as Social Security:
Speaking with the Post’s Dan Balz and Ann Kornblut aboard her “Middle Class Express” bus in Iowa, Clinton announced that we have no Social Security problem.
“I do not believe it is in crisis … I reject the conventional wisdom and the Republican talking points that Social Security is in crisis. I do not agree with that.”
See. There is no problem. Now, let’s talk about all the other programs I want government to run.
See how that works. Deny the problem exists, turn to the government for other programs. When those fail, refuse to see the failure, look to more government solutions. It is the typical liberal action. Never admit your the problem, ask for more power.
Note her language: “I reject the conventional wisdom and the Republican talking points…”
That will get her base off her back.
“Oh, the Republican talking points. They are a bunch of liars anyway. There is no problem with Social Security.” and then they march off with that glazed look in their eyes.
Well, Hillary, it wasn’t the Republicans that declared Social Security to be in crisis. It was…wait for it…Bill Clinton!
Ironically, it was not Republicans, but her husband Bill, who declared the Social Security system in crisis as his lead message in his State of the Union address in 1999.
President Clinton said in that address to the nation, “…by 2013, payroll taxes will no longer be sufficient to cover monthly payments. And by 2032 the trust fund will be exhausted, and Social Security will be unable to pay out the full benefits older Americans have been promised.”
The problem is, she doesn’t have a solution, at least not one the fits her socialist mentality. You could just turn the whole program over to the private sector, and allow the people to own their futures, but that isn’t good Marxism.
