Biden: Iowa Schools Do Better than D.C. Because Iowa Schools Have Less Black Students

How many racial gaffs can one candidate make before he removes himself from the campaign? I guess it depends on which party you are with. Republicans don’t even have to say it, but it is assumed. Democrats, however, get three or four slurs before they are held accountable. For example, Joe Biden already has one racial gaff under his belt this campaign, and here comes number two:

biden.jpgAfter a lengthy critique of Bush administration education policies, Biden attempted to explain why some schools perform better than others — in Iowa, for instance, compared with the District. “There’s less than 1 percent of the population of Iowa that is African American. There is probably less than 4 or 5 percent that are minorities. What is in Washington? So look, it goes back to what you start off with, what you’re dealing with,” Biden said. He went on to discuss the importance of parental involvement in reading to children and how “half this education gap exists before the kid steps foot in the classroom.”

The African-Americans are dragging down the average. That’s the problem. His campaign didn’t even have to switch gears to spin this one. They are used to Joe spitting something out like this. See, he was talking about poverty, not race. Even though he did not mention money, but mentioned race, he was not talking about race, but money. Get it? There are no poor black folks in Iowa. All those poor black kids I worked with in Iowa, not really poor. Or not really black. No, I can’t question race. I’m not a Democrat.

Imagine if Rudy said this. He would be finished.
