Maybe our two countries should start a support group
America apparently isn’t the only country with an immigrant problem.
Since Romania entered the European Union on 1st January 2007 an estimated five hundred thousand Romanians crossed the Italian borders. That is five hundred thousand of the poorest, the most desperate, and the most determined to do whatever it takes to partake of Western prosperity. Crime has exploded and shanty areas have sprung up like mushrooms in the Italian suburbs: the price for welcoming into the community a country that obviously isn’t prepared to pay the same price. I suppose we should commend the Romanians who, unlike the Mexicans, waited until it was somewhat legal for them to flood in and start raping and robbing a neighboring country.
Maybe we can take a look at what’s happening in Europe and learn something from it. We sure can’t seem to figure out what we’re doing wrong on the Mexican border, so an objective look at the Italian situation will be easier for our well-meaning corrupt political leaders.
Somewhere in Italy right now, I bet there’s a guy who’s thinking, “Build a F***ing Fence!”
