It’s Called Baby Fat for a Reason

By Duane Lester • Nov 14th, 2007

Having kids, I understand that babies are chubby. That is what makes them SOOOOO adorable. But, to some “modern” parents, that is troublesome fat around their waist:

babygymes_468x405.jpgParents are taking babies as young as four months to special gyms amid growing fears about childhood obesity.

A US chain has signed up hundreds of babies and toddlers across London for “developmental gymnastics”.

Demand for places has surged as government figures reveal one in five London children under 11 is obese.

A new centre in Chiswick has registered almost 500 children since September - including 150 babies under three - and two more gyms are due to open in Chelsea and Hampstead.

No anorexia in these children’s future. No way. I don’t think we have an obesity problem because four month old chldren are not getting enough exercise. It’s because parents let their kids sit in front of the television playing video games and don’t make them go outside and play football. Or ride a bike. And if you say it’s too dangerous, here’s a radical idea: Go with them. You could probably use the exercise too. I know I could.
