At 2 pm Central today, I’ll be talking with Cassandra of the weblog Politeia. She has started a movement, complete with manifesto:
Politeia propose a fresh political alignment and a re-statement of the Judeo-Christian and Greco-Roman principles on which our states, societies and legal systems are based. A culture element is not a hyphenated word, but a process that is the result of centuries of cross cultural influence.
We hold our roots dear. Therefore we strongly believe that human nature needs freedom to exercise moral choices.
We hold to the basic principle that man was created equal, and all that this entails.
Many in Politeia subscribe to the Classical Libertarian world view, but these principles are not exclusive. We reach out to those who are politically otherwise aligned, also irrespective of their religious persuasions but nevertheless fully committed to human free will, democratic principles, and individual autonomy, to join us in this universal cause.
The reconfiguration of opinion that we aim for involves drawing a line between us, and the forces that strive for a post-democratic and a post-national world order, and those that have made common cause with whatever radical, undemocratic influences that wish to undermine the Western heritage.
This is just part of a fourteen page manifesto. It should be a very interesting interview.
