Murtha Sees Progress in Iraq, Still a Moron

John Murtha has been to Iraq, and believe it or not, he saw progress:

“I think the ’surge’ is working,” the Democrat said in a videoconference from his Johnstown office, describing the president’s decision to commit more than 20,000 additional combat troops this year. But the Iraqis “have got to take care of themselves.”

Violence has dropped significantly in recent months, but Mr. Murtha said he was most encouraged by changes in the once-volatile Anbar province, where locals have started working closely with U.S. forces to isolate insurgents linked to Al Qaeda.

That’s weird. I thought that had been talked about already. Months ago. But Murtha has been more focused on losing the war on Bush’s watch than paying attention to what was going on in Iraq. The article continues:

He said Iraqis need to duplicate that success at the national level, but the central government in Baghdad is “dysfunctional.”

Dysfunctional? I guess we should be pulling our troops out of America now too. He has the gall to call Iraq dysfunctional, after this year’s Congress?

He can get a tiny speck of credit for seeing the progress in Iraq, but that’s all. He’s still a disgusting man who refuses to apologize for saying our Marines intentionally kill innocent people in cold-blood.
