Intense Debate

First, I’d like to announce that All American Blogger is 100% iPhone and iPod Touch compatible now. If you open All American Blogger in Safari on your iPhone/iPod you will see a specially formatted version of the site. It’s pretty nice.

As part of a massive site update and redesign we’ll be rolling out on January 1, we’ve begun using a service called “Intense Debate” to handle our post comments. Intense Debate (ID) is a feature-rich service that allows for more interactive and user-friendly comments than what is built into WordPress. ID won’t be replacing any of our existing comments, but will begin showing up in new posts immediately. It’s an upgrade that should add a new element to our website, and one that we hope you will enjoy.

On the last couple of days of this month, we’re going to take the site down and do some extensive retooling. The process has already begun, and we’re building the new version of All American Blogger from the ground up. Our existing site is a heavily modified version of a third party WordPress theme. While it has served us well over the last six months, we know it’s time for us to tear down the old house and build a newer, bigger one.

We’ve started up a Facebook group for All American Blogger, and anyone is free to join. It’s a good way to get in touch with us in an informal way and tell us how great we are, or how much we suck - depending on your point of view. For anyone who’s interested, I’ve also got a link in the Facebook group page that will let you get a sneak peak at our new design.

Starting with this post, Intense Debate comments are open.

Andrew Riley is an idealist, a dreamer, and occasionally a real son-of-a-bitch. He spends his days webmastering this blog, writing for this blog, and more importantly filling his four year old son's head with silly nonsense. He is an Army veteran, a conservative Libertarian, and gets bored with most people pretty quickly. 4 out of 5 dentists agree that he is way cooler than you.
