Harry Reid has been a complete failure as Senate Majority Leader. Everything the Dems have tried to push in the Senate has been blocked by Republicans. He wants the American people to see this not as a battle of free market v. socialism, but of the Republicans and big business against the American people. See, for a liberal like Harry Reid, big business is evil. They take advantage of the people of America and rip them off. He sees the failure of the Democrats in this last year not as a win for Republicans. No, that would not do. He, as a good liberal, has to continue to pimp the class warfare card.
“Who’s winning?” Reid asked a group of reporters. “Big Oil, Big Tobacco. … The American people are losing.”
See, if the people hear the terms Big Oil and Big Tobacco, they see fat cat suits lighting cigars with $100 bills, laughing at the common man who they are taking advantage of. And this can lessen the impact of being a failure, because it diverts the people’s attention from Reid’s failures to a more attractive target.
Big Oil and Big Tobacco are not taking advantage of anyone. Neither entity forces anyone to pay for their product. But Harry Reid and the members of Congress force each and everyone citizen to pay for thier pet projects through excessive taxation. The last appropriations omnibus bill had over 8,000 earmarks in it. There was $10 million to pay for lawyers for illegal immigrants. But Harry Reid doesn’t want us to see that, so he creates the image of Big Oil and Big Tobacco for the people to stew over.
He’s right about one thing. The American people are losing, but not to Big Tobacco. Not to Big Oil. But to Big Government. That’s who is ruining America.
