Fly-over Country Volunteers More

The Midwest is often referred to by elitists as “Flyover country,” just a part of the country that separates the all-important coasts. You know, the place where the really smart people live and where important things happen.

It appears the people in fly-over country tend to care more about their fellow man than the leftists who pimp government actions to help those in need:

Midwesterners are more likely to volunteer their time than are people elsewhere in the United States, according to a government study being released Monday. The highest rates were in the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area, where more than four in 10 adults volunteered.

It looks like the coasts want the needy to get help, as long as someone else does it, like the government.

Las Vegas had the lowest volunteer rate, 14.4 percent. It was joined at the bottom by Miami; New York; Virginia Beach, Va.; and Riverside, Calif.

Yet another reason to call it the Heartland.
