I Thought the Earth Had a Fever? Is It Having Chills Now?

Al Gore, Oscar winner and Nobel Peace Prize recipient, told us that the Earth had a fever. But it seems the Earth needs a sweater. For example, it snowed in Baghdad. Yeah, that Baghdad:

The morning flurry Friday was the first in memory in the heart of the Iraqi capital. Perhaps more significant, however, was the rare ripple of delight through a city snarled by army checkpoints, divided by concrete walls and ravaged by sectarian killings.

“For the first time in my life I saw a snow-rain like this falling in Baghdad,” said Mohammed Abdul-Hussein, a 63-year-old retiree from the New Baghdad area.

In Afghanistan, many are dying from the cold:

Four large provinces in the western part of the country have been especially badly hit. Tens of thousands of livestock have also perished.

Local people are saying the winter conditions have been the most severe in decades. The cold spell is also affecting neighbouring countries.

In fact, things are freezing all over the Middle East. People in Saudi Arabia are dying from snow. Have you ever heard of that before? Ever? Neither have I:

Local reports say that 10 people died in Saudi Arabia after snowfalls.

In Syria, temperatures have dropped to minus 16 degrees Celsius. There has been widespread damage to crops in Syria, Jordan and Israel.

And finally, the Russians are worrried about the cold turning into a killer there:

Russians are bracing for temperatures of as low as minus 55 degrees Celsius (minus 67 degrees Fahrenheit) in Siberia as Russia’s emergencies ministry warns on Wednesday of its impending dangers in the coming weeks.

Government agencies were placed on high alert, reports AFP. The ministry ordered local administration officials to prepare for the extreme chill expected to last until Jan. 21.

The ministry warned that the unusually cold weather could kill, cause frost-bite, conk heaters and cut electricity to homes, disrupt transport, increase the rate of car accidents and even destroy buildings across Siberia.

All this cold weather on a planet that is supposedly at risk from global warming. I know, I know. The alarmists will just say it weather, not climate. And when you point out that it hasn’t warmed in the last ten years, they say, that’s too small a sample.

Everytime something discredits the myth, they move the goal line. Like this. Now it isn’t that global warming is caused by CO2, but it is driving it.

Keep moving the goal line. Soon you’ll be preaching global cooling to the masses. That’s why you preach about “climate change” now. Global warming was apparently too narrow.
