Maybe they think it will work. Maybe they are so deluded they actually think that calling Barack Obama out for his spending will resonate with the American public. I can’t imagine anyone hearing the Grand Old Party try to pass itself off as fiscally conservative, heck even fiscally responsible, and not cramp up in fits of laughter.
But still they are trying:
If Obama Could Enact All Of His Campaign Proposals, Taxpayers Would Be Faced With Financing Over $850 Billion In New Spending Over One White House Term
Oh my goodness, who will save us from this crazy Democrat and his spend happy ways?
That ship has sailed for the GOP. They can get it back, but it is going to take more than talk. Or a fancy thermometer graphic with Obama’s smiling face on it. It will take time, sacrifice and some fiscal conservatism. Remember that?
I don’t buy it, and I’m a Republican. Actually, now that I think about it, it’s insulting to me. Like I’m supposed to just look at this thing with my eyes glazed over, nodding my head and chanting, “Barack is bad. He spends too much. Barack is bad. He spends too much.” Yeah, his spending proposals are outrageous, but let’s be realistic, folks. The Republicans spent the last decade turning fiscal conservatism into a fairy tale.
“Let me tell you a story kids, about a group of people called Republicans, and how they promised to control spending and limit government. Once upon a time…”
Republicans better limit your own spending first. Then you can talk smack about Barack’s plans for my money.
