Just heard his concession speech on XM as I was driving home.

Huck is out. A lot of news sources are still saying he’s dropping out tomorrow. When I get more, I’ll update.

UPDATE:

From his speech:

huckabee-photo.jpg“I called Sen. McCain a few minutes ago,’’ Huckabee said tonight in Texas, with his wife by his side. “I extended not only my congratulations, but also my commitment to him… to do everything possible for the party.

“Sen. McCain has run an honorable campaign,’’ said Huckabee, the last serious remaining Republican rival to McCain, and now that McCain has clinched the delegates necessary for the GOP nomination it is time for the party to rally behind him.

“I’m also mindful that the real story of this campaign is going to be in the faces of those of you who are here and the millions of faces of people across this country who never made

“The apostle Paul wrote that I have fought the good fight and I have finished the race,’’ said Huckabee. “Not only have we fought the good fight and finished the race… but more importantly, we have kept the faith. I would rather lose an election than lose the principals that got me into politics in the first place.

“What a journey, a journey of a lifetime,’’ said Huckabee, quoting the prophet Isaiah. “Let me say, while many in the establishment never really believed I belonged, there were many in the country who did… It was their sacrifices… Those of the folks who have given me a voice, and I only pray that I have been able to give them a voice.

“A voice for the unborn children of this county, a voice for life,’’said Huckabee, who had built his campaign for president on the support of social conservatives, particularly evangelical Christians like himself. “For all the conservatives of this country… I also hope there are people… who I have given a voice.

“There are many battles this year that we need not just to fight – we need to win them,’’ he said. “It’s time for us to hit the reset button… We aren’t going away completely. We want to be a part of keeping the issues alive that have kept us in this race.’’

I liked a lot of things about Huckabee, but there were more I didn’t like. He seems like a really decent guy though. It is all McCain now. I could say the same thing about him that I did Huck.
