Rep. Christopher Shays snapped on Capitol Hill and unloaded his frustration on a Capitol police officer. He was trying to direct a family of his constituents, who were outside the Capitol building.
Shays, R-Conn., had been on his cell phone trying to find the family, caught in a rainstorm Thursday on the Capitol’s West Front.
Shays asked the intern guiding the family to hand a cell phone to the nearest Capitol Police officer, who could explain their location. The officer refused, according to a Shays aide.
Shays soon arrived on the scene, had angry words for the officer and reached up to read the officer’s name tag. Shays touched the officer’s name tag, Capitol Police said.
While no where near as bad as Moonbat McKinney’s assault, Shays still went to far. He has apologized for his outburst.
“I interacted with a Capitol Police officer in a way that I know was not appropriate,” Shays said in a statement. “I know I clearly could have handled the situation with the officer in a more professional and respectful way, and I regret I did not do so.”
…
“I take full responsibility for this incident and want to ensure it does not reflect negatively on the officer in any way,” Shays said.
Shays needs to get this guy a gift certificate to Ruth’s Criss Steaks or something. A night out with his wife while Shay’s watches his kids. Show you’re sorry and that you mean it.
