U.N. to Decide If America is Racist
By Duane Lester • May 19th, 2008 • 444 ViewsBarack Obama will be the Democrat Party’s candidate for President of the United States of America. He will be the first American of African descent to earn the party’s nomination. In a time where he can achieve what no minority in the history of the country has ever done, win the seat of the most powerful person in the world, what is missing?
A United Nations investigation into the role racism played in the election.
As an African American politician is set to assume for the first time in the country’s history the leadership of a major political party, a Geneva-based United Nations human rights investigator plans to come here next week to investigate whether racism plays a role in the presidential campaign, according to a statement released yesterday.
The special rapporteur on “contemporary forms of racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia, and related intolerance,†Doudou Diène of Senegal, will arrive in America Monday for a two-week tour that will take him to Washington, New York, Chicago, Omaha, Los Angeles, New Orleans, Miami, and San Juan, Puerto Rico, according to the statement.
“Rapporteurs” are “independent experts, and they report to the Human Rights Council…”
The same Human Rights Council that in May 2006, elected “elected Algeria, China, Cuba, Pakistan, Russia, and Saudi Arabia to the council.”
The same Human Rights Council that voted in 2007 “to end its examination of Iran and Uzbekistan despite worsening human rights records in both countries.”
The same Human Rights Council that “passed a resolution proposed by Islamic countries saying it is deeply concerned about the defamation of religions and urging governments to prohibit it…”
The same Human Rights Council that “despite repeated appeals by more than 70 human rights NGOs from Asia, the Council, which closes its 7th Session today, took no action on the call for a special session to deal with massive human rights violations taking place in response to recent uprisings in the “Tibet Autonomous Region†and other Tibetan areas in China. The Human Rights Council has sat idle and neglected to address the issue with any meaningful or effective action.”
The same Human Rights Council that Freedom House Advocacy Director Paula Schriefer said, “…has so far failed to adequately address any of the egregious human rights situations taking place in the countries included in our Worst of the Worst report.”
This is who will be reviewing our national election. And we allow them to:
America has accepted Mr. Diene’s request for an investigation. “As an open society, we will not shy away from investigation of our practice,†a spokesman for the American mission to the United Nations, Benjamin Chang, said. “We need to lead by example†in the field of openness to outside investigation, he added.
This is a group the United States refuses to be a part of because “not enough was done to prevent abusive countries from becoming members.” Now we allow them to investigate us?
What will be the outcome of this? Boortz nails it:
If there is anyone out there who doesn’t firmly believe that the UN will issue a finding that the US electoral process is racist … well, you need help.
