Rudy Pimps Ethanol Like a Truther Pimps "Loose Change"

Rudy has put a lot of emphasis on the use of ethanol lately.  I have to think that some advisor has told him that 1) they grow a lot of corn in Iowa, and 2) ethanol is made from corn.  Therefore, becoming a shill for ethanol use will get you big-time results in Iowa come primary time:

Ethanol and other bio-fuels are already helping America move toward energy independence. But it is embarrassing that Brazil is so far ahead of America in the use of ethanol. It should be the other way around. Seventy percent of the new cars sold in Brazil can use ethanol. In the United States there’s only a very small percentage. In Brazil you can pull up to most gas stations and get ethanol. That’s not the case in the United States. Our goal has to be more growth in ethanol.

He does have a few good ideas in this article, including the building of more nuclear power plants, coal-to-liquid plants and using alternative forms of energy like wind turbines.

But as far as the federal government leading the charge here, I think they are part of the problem.  Rarely are they the solution.  Perhaps a better position would be that all these things are needed and as president, I will get the federal government out of the path of progress.

I’d vote for that.
