Our Interview with Alec Rawls

Alec Rawl, author of “Crescent of Betrayal: Dishonoring the Heroes of Flight 93″ joined us last night for a full hour to talk about the fight he has waged against the construction of the Flight 93 memorial. All of the information Alec talked about can be found at his website, Crescent of Betrayal, along with the peitition.

A few of the things we talked about include:

• The winning design for the Flight 93 memorial is actually an Islamic crescent and star which, when dissected, points directly to Mecca, turning the memorial into a “mihrab,” the central feature around which every mosque is built.
• Defenders of the design claim that since the world is round, any direction you face points to Mecca.
• “Every place where the 40 heroes are memorialized, they are depicted as symbolically damned, cast out of the symbolic Islamic heavens. One example is in the Tower of Voices, where an Islamic shaped crescent soars in the sky above forty symbolic souls that literally dangle below”
