It’s All Bush’s Fault
By Duane Lester • Jul 16th, 2008I have often said that being a Democrat means never having to say you are sorry and for so long, the left has blamed everything they could on President Bush. Now, Harry Reid has taken it to a new level.
The Congress of the United States of America sits at a pitiful 9% approval rating. According to Reid, blame Bush:
“Any time, I repeat, any time you have a president that is down so, so far in poll numbers, it drags down a city council member,” said Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev. “It drags down any elected official, including us, and we recognize that.”
Bush’s numbers are currently sitting at 28%, roughly three times that of the Congress. Please explain to me how Bush is responsible for the approval rating of Congress dropping from more than 30% when the Democrats took over in ‘06, to where it is now. Granted, 30% approval rating is terrible, but under Reid’s watch, it was gotten worse.
Perhaps Harry could look at what the Democrats promised and what they have actually done. That would explain the loss of base support. Take responsibility for once, Senator Reid. You have failed to do what you said you would do.
And Republicans…start acting like Republicans. You all spend like teenagers with their parent’s credit card. It’s time for the Ted Stevens’ with his “Bridge to Nowhere” and his billion dollar earmarks to go home and stay home. And you RINOS, like Luger and Snowe and the other three pretenders who signed Barack’s Global Poverty Act, you need to switch parties. You are not welcome in this party if you support bigger and bigger government. We need to purge the party of false Republicans and return to our limited government roots.
The responsibility of the poor approval rating of Congress rests squarely on the shoulders of those leading Congress and those serving in Congress, both Democrats and Republicans. You have lost your way. You are too focused on the next election. You are too in love with your power, and have forgotten your responsibility, if you ever really knew and understood it.
