Dad Rewrites Kids' Mathbooks Following Poor Grades

If only every parent had this kind of interest and dedication in the education of their children:

Some parents pitch in with homework when kids get bad grades in math. Nicholas Aggor literally wrote the book.

The Riverview engineer was so distressed when sons Samuel, 14, and Joshua, 13, brought home bad marks, he took it upon himself to rewrite their textbooks chapter by chapter.

Four years later, they are in advanced classes…

This parent is an inspiration and should be a role model for other parents to follow. He saw the problem and did not push it off on anyone else. He accepted his responsibility to his children and made sure they learned what they needed to learn. Now, the school that failed him and his children looks to him for help with mathematics:

Riverview Community School District teachers liked the books so much they started using them in classes last year, and district officials in June made it part of the curriculum for elementary and middle school starting in fall.

“(Aggor) said he’d been working with his boys on math, and that he was writing a textbook, but I didn’t really take it too seriously,” said Nancy Holloway, principal at Riverview’s Memorial Elementary School, where the books will be used for fourth- and fifth-graders.

“I couldn’t believe it a few years later, when he said he’d written a complete set of books. Just looking at the books, I say ‘Oh my gosh, I wish I’d had this when I was in school.’ “

Good work, Nicholas.
