| An Example Of The Ad In Question |
I was doing a little maintenance work to the site this morning and something caught my eye. We have Ads on our site, which are served up by a big internet company. One of the things that was displayed was an ad for a free Obama bumper sticker from the people at MoveOn.org
Not being a fan of the MoveOn crowd, I was a little irritated to see an ad from them on our site. My first reaction was to try and figure out how to get those ads off our site. But then I started thinking about it and had a better idea. I can’t encourage our readers to click these ads because it would be unethical. If our readers were to click on these ads that are showing up on our site it would basically take money from MoveOn.org and put it to use supporting our site, which is firmly against the idea of an Obama presidency. As much pleasure as I would get from that, I will not encourage you to click on those ads. I also will not suggest that you tell a friend to do the same.
Another thing that crossed my mind was to encourage everyone I know to order one of the free Obama bumper stickers, which would cost money for MoveOn to make and mail, and then throw them away. If I were to advocate our readers clicking these ads from our site, ordering a sticker, and then destroying it, that would be wrong. Sure, it would take money away from MoveOn, and it would probably feel really good to do it, but I just can’t ask you to do it. Even if you had to refresh the page a time or two in order to see the ad. Still wrong.
After thinking all these thoughts, I did a little searching on the ‘net and found an alternative. There is a site called “McCain Store” (which is not officially affiliated with the McCain campaign) that is giving away up to one million “NOBAMA” stickers for free.
To get a free “NOBAMA” bumper sticker, send a self-addressed, stamped envelope to;

You can also check out McCainStore.com for more information. Technically it’s not free, but two envelopes and two stamps should cost you less than a buck. Not a bad deal, and there’s a pretty good chance you’ll really piss off a liberal idiot too!
