I know Barack’s feeling desperate after Sarah Palin’s brilliant speech, but thinking women will fall for this is about as intelligent as referring to small town folks as bitter, Bible-thumping, gun-hugging racists.
Senator Barack Obama will increasingly lean on prominent Democratic women to undercut Governor Sarah Palin and Senator John McCain, dispatching Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton to Florida on Monday and creating a rapid-response team to deploy female surrogates to battleground states, Obama advisers said on Thursday.
Does Obama really think that “non-college educated women” are going to care that he’s sending Hillary Clinton or Kathleen Sebelius to talk him up? Most women I know, whether they’ve been to college or not, are aware of who is running for the office of President of the United States, and it’s not Hillary or Kathleen. Those same women are also smart enough to think for themselves, and not believe what they’re told just because it was a woman who said it. Hillary didn’t ring true when she was speaking on her own behalf, and now Obama thinks that she can do some good for his campaign?
Gloria Steinem was right when she said that Hillary and Sarah don’t have much in common. Sarah Palin has morals, values, and character to stand on. She is able to identify with the typical American woman, mother, and wife, and is willing to stand up for us. Hillary was running on her husband’s name, and her female genitalia. What is she possibly going to be able to do for Obama?
