At Least One Feminist Gets It

The media attacks on Sarah Palin have been some of the most sexist I have seen. Has anyone asked how Barack Obama can be a father to two young daughters if he is President of the United States? No, but the media wants to know how Sarah Palin can be a mother to a special needs child and be VP.

The sexism is obvious to anyone who isn’t blinded by Obamamania. Bonnie Sitter sees it:

OK I’m a tad disgusted.

As soon as Sarah Palin shocked the nation by being named the vice presidential running mate with Republican presidential candidate John McCain members of the press started questioning her ability to be both a mom and member of the executive branch – thus firmly installing the glass ceiling feminists have fought to smash through.

It’s funny because the same media had little concern for Democratic Vice Presidential candidate Joe Biden last week. In fact, they applauded with much grandeur his decision to remain in office after his wife and daughter were tragically killed in car crash, not move to Washington and instead take the train home every night so he could be with his son.

Now, I like Biden. Heck, I wish he were the one running for highest office. Heck, I’d probably even vote for him. He is the epitome of integrity. I also applaud his choice to remain in office.

However, the media’s double standard is disgusting and insulting.

No one asked who was raising Biden’s children while he debated on the Senate floor? No one questioned his decision not to have two homes so he wouldn’t have to endure such a long commute and could spend more time with his son? No, we road the train with Biden and got all mushy.

With Palin, it’s another story.
