Since I wrote this, the Office of the President-Elect, whatever that is, has ordered changes on Change.gov. Instead of saying the plan requires service, the “plan” is now to set a goal:
setting a goal that all middle school and high school students do 50 hours of community service a year and by developing a plan so that all college students who conduct 100 hours of community service receive a universal and fully refundable tax credit ensuring that the first $4,000 of their college education is completely free.
Right. I’m sure this is set in stone also.
The burning question on everyone’s mind, though, is what does he mean when he talks about his civilian national security force. Rahm Emanuel did a podcast a while back that might shed some light on the subject:
This is a whole new level of disturbing. Imagine what the left would be saying if Bush came up with a plan to force civilians into a program like this.
