Another Democrat for the Fairness Doctrine, Censorship

Democrat Senator from Michigan Debbie Stabanow wants to bring “accountability to the airwaves.”  I guess that shows being played because they are good and people like them isn’t good enough.  Stabenow wants the Fairness Doctrine:

microphone BILL PRESS: Yeah, I mean, look: They have a right to say that. They’ve got a right to express that. But, they should not be the only voices heard. So, is it time to bring back the Fairness Doctrine?

SENATOR DEBBIE STABENOW (D-MI): I think it’s absolutely time to pass a standard. Now, whether it’s called the Fairness Standard, whether it’s called something else — I absolutely think it’s time to be bringing accountability to the airwaves. I mean, our new president has talked rightly about accountability and transparency. You know, that we all have to step up and be responsible. And, I think in this case, there needs to be some accountability and standards put in place.

BILL PRESS: Can we count on you to push for some hearings in the United States Senate this year, to bring these owners in and hold them accountable?

SENATOR DEBBIE STABENOW (D-MI): I have already had some discussions with colleagues and, you know, I feel like that’s gonna happen. Yep.

What is most interesting, as I heard on Mark Levin yesterday and this article points out, is that Sen. Stabenow’s husband was a player in the failed liberal talk radio

He is a co-founder and former CEO of the liberal-progressive Democracy Radio, an organization that produced and supported liberal talk radio shows that formerly included the Ed Schultz Show. He is now the executive Vice-President of another liberal talk radio organization Air America. Athans is married to Senator Debbie Stabenow, a Democrat of Michigan.

As per the norm, when liberals can’t win, they turn to the government to tip the balance of power in their favor.

This isn’t about the fact that the conservative message is being better distributed in the media.  Liberalism has The Today Show, The Early Show, Good Morning America, NBC News, ABC News, CBS News, CNN, MSNBC, NPR and others.  Heck, you have reporters hopping the security ropes to get an autographs and cameramen saying, “I’d like to say it one more time:  Mr. President.”

In that second link, you can see how the press are falling over themselves to shake his hand.

The problem is that talk radio has power and its listeners take action.  And that action is contrary to the agenda of the current socialist administration.  If they were towing the leftist line, there would be no problem.

Talk radio stopped the amnesty bill and they are shining sunlight on the stimulus package.  Every day, there is less support for it.
