You draw a pencil cartoon of Mohammed’s head on a dog’s body, stand by for riots. You create a portrait of Osama Bin Laden made to look like Jesus, or the Virgin Mary wearing a burqa…eh, that’s art:
THE artist behind a controversial work depicting terrorism mastermind Osama bin Laden morphing into Jesus today invited those considering her work to look a little more deeply than the obvious comparison of good and evil.
Queensland artist Priscilla Bracks denied she had deliberately set out to be offensive.
“Absolutely not, no, no. I am not interested in being offensive. I am interested in having a discussion and asking questions about how we think about our world and what we accept and what we don’t accept,” she said.
Right. And what better way to open a dialogue than by comparing a mass murdering terrorist to the symbol of the Christian religion. That’s how you get people to really open up. And while you are at it, why not dress the Virgin Mary up in a burqa.
Newspapers across the country are scared to run a comic strip about Islam because it might offend Muslims. Yet there is no hesitation in showing these photos.
Can you see the problem here? It isn’t the comparison of Osama to Jesus. Oh yeah, I don’t like it, but see, the bigger problem here is the political correctness and fear that prevents people from truly voicing their opinion about Islam.
And that is part of the plan. Use fear to shut people up. Why else do you sue John Does on a plane for reportiong suspect behavior? Cry racial profiling. Cry discrimination. Riot. Protest.
Each time a person fails to voice their opinion about Islam, it is another victory for the terrorists. We have the bravest military in the world, facing a deadly enemy, but our newsrooms and studios are full of coward editors, afraid of offending Islam. The military dies on the battlefield for a free press that is too scared to be free.
That is the real outrage. When is that protest?
