Thanks go to Jimmie at Sundries Shack for hooking me up with the super secret CPAC bloggers wifi. Now I can actually update the blog and send out tweets.
There are almost 9,000 people here and the theme as far as I can see is how to get the GOP back to conservatism. The opening speaker this morning was fantastic. His name is Paul Ryan, Republican Congressman from Wisconsin. His speech was a barn burner. After listening to him for 45 minutes, I was ready to storm the tower!
Following him, I was pumped and actually, was thinking about bailing on John Bolton. I’m glad I didn’t. His speech was hilarious. He spoke on national security and found a way to keep me not only interested, but laughing. The audience rose cheering and clapping when he ended his speech with a call to make Obama a one termer. I am glad I stuck around to hear him.
After that, I worked my way over the Pajamas Media’s Conservatism 2.0 shin-dig. Here’s where I probably lose my chance of ever becoming a part of PJ Media.
Their lecture was scheduled to start at 11:45, but it wasn’t underway until almost 12:15. And that was a video from November 19th. It was really disappointing. When the live panels started, the panel with Alfonzo Rachel. I spoke with him after the panel and he is a genuinely humble and thankful guy. I talked with him about doing a show on RFC Radio. Cross your fingers.
I left that lecture early and made my way to the Exhibit Hall. I finally found Melissa Coulter and she said I need to change my picture on the site. She says I look depressed. Jimmie from Sundries Shack says I look like Ivan Drago. Either way, they both agree I need to make the picture cheerier. I chose that picture because I thought I looked serious, but perhaps they are onto something. Don’t be afraid to voice your opinion in the comments.
One thing is for sure. This is not a dead party. This is a party that is angry at those who supposedly carry its banner in Washington. The problem is getting those who have abandoned conservatism to either get back on board or out of office. The only way to really get a politicians attention is through votes or money.
Perhaps we need to stop donating to the GOP, and start funneling loads of money to the true conservatives in office. What do you think?
