Actual Headline: Obama takes axe to bloated government spending

There is no other description for this headline, and the accompanying article, than to call it propaganda.  Pure propaganda.

Imagine, with all the spending in the stimulus bill and the nearly 9,000 earmarks found in the omnibus spending bill, there is a news outlet that wants to tell us about President Obama’s frugality. The headline was bad, but the article is worse:

"I reject the false choice between securing this nation and wasting billions of taxpayer dollars," Obama said on a day when he signed a presidential memorandum reforming the contracting system across the entire government.

"In this time of great challenges, I recognize the real choice between investments that are designed to keep the American people safe and those that are designed to make a defense contractor rich," Obama said.

The president’s promise to clean up contracting was in line with his pledge to cut the soaring federal budget deficit in half by the end of his mandate in 2013.

The one area in which Obama is pledging to spend less money is defense.  And for that, we are supposed to turn a blind eye to the amount of tax increases and spending sprees thrust upon the American people in the spirit of change.

I wonder how the people who don’t read blogs or just get their news from the main stream media see the Obama Administration.  Are there people out there who read this type of news and believe it, or do they see this as the propaganda it is?
