Where's OUR Protection?

The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services has come up with a brilliant new plan to keep illegal aliens in the United States- special visas for those who claim to be victims of crime.

People who come into the United States illegally and then become victims of crime may get special protection from the U.S. government.(emphasis mine)

I’m all for helping victims of crime. The problem here, is that these are not victims of crime, but criminals themselves. If the government was doing it’s job and protecting legal citizens, the illegal immigrant wouldn’t be around to become a victim of crime. You can’t hurt someone who isn’t here.

According to USCIS, “Individuals granted U nonimmigrant status may remain in the United States for up to four years, and may be accompanied by eligible family members (spouse, children, unmarried siblings under 18, and parents).

Is four years the average amount of time it takes our law enforcement to find and prosecute a perpetrator of crime? What happens when the four years are up? Do they get shipped back to their home then, or do they return to their illegal but ignored status?

USCIS said a total of 10,000 U-visas will be available each fiscal year, but the congressionally mandated cap does not apply to eligible family members.

There is so much potential for fraud with this rule.
