President Obama wants to role model for the rest of the world. In order to coax them into accepting detainees released from Gitmo, Obama has decided to accept a resettle a few here in America. As if allowing the borders to remain porous and our immigration system to continue admitting terrorists, now we are importing them from detention centers.
Reporting from Washington — The Obama administration is preparing to admit into the United States as many as seven Chinese Muslims who have been imprisoned at Guantanamo Bay in the first release of any of the detainees into this country, according to current and former U.S. officials.
Their release is seen as a crucial step to plans, announced by President Obama during his first week in office, to close the prison and relocate the detainees. Administration officials also believe that settling some of them in American communities will set an example, helping to persuade other nations to accept Guantanamo detainees too.But the decision to release the Chinese Muslims, known as Uighurs, is not final and faces challenges from within the government, as well as likely public opposition. Among government agencies, the Homeland Security Department has registered concerns about the plan.
The move would also incense Chinese officials, who consider the Uighurs domestic terrorists and want those held at Guantanamo handed over for investigation. U.S. officials no longer consider the Chinese Muslims to be enemy combatants and fear they would be mistreated in China.

The article explains some are advocating they be released in the Washington area, where other Chinese Muslims have settled. This is to help them by being around people who speak their language and understand their customs.
Yep, the good ol’ melting pot has definitely cooled off.
Perhaps more thought needs to be put into where these folks are sent. They were found in Pakistan and Afghanistan and say they were there for firearms training. The L.A. Times says it was to fight the Chinese government in order to secede and create their own country.
Why would that be any different here? When they were in Gitmo, they destroyed a television because it dared show a woman with, gasp, bare arms!
Pardon me if I find the idea of bringing them to the mainland a little disturbing.
