I’m really sorry to ask you to do this, but watch this video of Keith Olberman. In it, he using his usual “I’m angry and I am better than you” tone to rail against banks that have taken bailout money. He refers to them as “corporate pirates.”
Again, I’m sorry to have to ask you to do that. But here’s why. Olbie just accepted a pay raise from $4 million to $7.5 million. Good for him, right? But he works for MSNBC, which is owned by General Electric.
General Electric accepted bailout money too. They accepted $126 billion, then gave this hypocrite an extra $3.5 million a year.
At the website, “The Worst Bailout in the World” is a letter to Olbie, which says,
Dear Mr. Olbermann,While General Electric, the parent-company of your MSNBC network, was negotiating a $126 billion taxpayer-funded bailout, you signed a new contract raising your salary from $4 million to $7.5 million annually. You have used your show as a platform to call for the resignation of corporate executives accepting excessive bonuses on the backs of taxpayers who are picking up the tab for these atrocious bailouts, yet you yourself have no problem engaging in the same “class economic rape” that you accuse them of.
Please heed your own advice and stop accepting taxpayer money to subsidize your nightly diatribes. Resign or return the balance of your excessive raise to the U.S. Treasury.
Sincerely,
Below that is a space for you to add your name to the letter.
I added mine.
And since I had to ask so much of you, and you may be angry now, I give you this bit of comedy gold from Saturday Night Live. Ben Affleck as Keith Olberman.
