In the United States of America, the American flag should be permissible. There is no instance when an American citizen should not be allowed to display the flag. If there are people in America who are offended by this symbol of our country, they should go elsewhere.
Hobbton High School in North Carolina has banned its students from wearing or displaying any type of flag.
The new rule stems from a controversy over students wearing shirts bearing flags of other countries.
I’m a patriotic person, and I would like to see all American citizens displaying the same pride in our country that I do. However, because I believe in our country’s founding principles as set forth in the Constitution, I believe people have the right to display other countries’ flags if they feel the need. I’m assuming these flags weren’t displayed in an obscene manner- no one was running around in flag-imprinted undies. Instead of dealing with the real issues, we’ll just stop everyone from expressing their opinion and everything will be fine.
I think I’ll go dress my home-schooled kids in red, white, and blue from head to toe in celebration of my ability to express my opinion in this great country in which we live.
