“Did he have the audacity to say that in front of grieving 9/11 family members?â€
Including the headline, those are two responses to the comments of Deval Patrick, liberal Democratic governor of the People’s Republic of Massachusetts. Here’s a third:
“If your governor thinks we can love-bomb al-Qaeda into submission, he’s living in a dream world.â€
So what did the governor say that was so outrageous?
In his 9/11 commemoration speech, Patrick observed that while the attack on the World Trade Center was “mean and nasty,†(that’s telling ’em, Deval!) the real tragedy of six years ago was the “failure of human understanding.â€
Yes, 9/11 was, Patrick said “a failure of human beings to understand each other, to learn to love each other.†[Emphasis added.]
Hmm. I guess we should just learn to love the jihadis who offer us Islam or death. I was way off thinking that they were directly outside their heads for killing over 3,000 people on September 11th. If the pilot would have just given Mohammed Atta a hug, all this could have been avoided.
Outrageous.
The responses are from one person, Debra Burlingame. Her brother Chic was murdered on 9/11 by these obviously misunderstood and unloved terrorists. He was on Flight 77, which hit the Pentagon. She was staggered by the lack of insight, tact or compassion shown by the governor.
“Did he really say ‘mean and nasty?’ †she wanted to know. “At Ground Zero, they’ve recovered 21,000 body parts and still counting. That’s not mean and nasty, that’s an atrocity.â€
Not in the mind of a liberal. It’s just another example of America being wrong. And because I think you should be activist citizens, I offer you a link to the governor’s contact page on his website. Here’s what I wrote:
Sir,
I found your September 11th speech to be naive and insulting. The attacks were not “mean and nasty.” They were a divorce from all things human. They were an barbaric attack on each and every American who believes in Western civilization.
Thousands didn’t die because of a lack of understanding. They died because 19 heartless murderers chose to slaughter civilians to promote the “religion of peace.”
Will it be a misunderstanding if they attack our schools like they did in Beslan, Russia? Would you make the same speech then? Would you characterize that as “mean and nasty?”
Please choose your words carefully in the future and show more respect to the people who continue to suffer.
Very respectfully,
Duane Lester
That took me about 3 minutes to do.
