Hillary’s Univision Pandering Extravaganza
By Andrew Riley • Sep 13th, 2007So the Democrats had a debate last weekend on Univision down in Florida. It was filled with examples of why none of them should get elected.
… Democrats blasted Republicans for demanding to clamp down on the U.S.-Mexico border. The candidates also took implicit jabs at GOP contenders who refused to sign up for a similar Spanish-language forum.
“There are many in the political world and, frankly, in the broadcast world today that take a particular aim at the Latino population,” Clinton said. “I think it is very destructive. It undermines our unity as a country.” [source]
I’m not sure who Hillary is talking about when she says politicians are “taking aim” the Latino population. What has the Latino population ever done that was wrong? Nothing. The population that politicians (at least the good ones) are taking aim at are the illegal aliens. For Hillary to paint it as an issue of race rather than the issue of criminal behavior does a disservice to this country - especially to Americans who are Latinos. Who, exactly, is Hillary trying to help? Besides Hillary I mean.
She cited an immigration bill the House of Representatives passed in 2006 as a “particularly egregious example.”
She said the bill, which would have punished people who aid illegal immigrants, “would have criminalized the Good Samaritan. It would have criminalized Jesus Christ.”
Isn’t it already against the law to aid a criminal in breaking the law? I think they call that aiding & abetting. Hillary is good at twisting words to fit her needs, but to compare illegal aliens to Jesus Christ is not just inaccurate, it is insulting.
Clinton said she favored tighter border controls, but said the nation needs comprehensive immigration reform.
No Hillary, we don’t need a comprehensive plan. We need to halt the flow of illegal aliens before we can address the bigger issue. As Duane has so often said, if you have a busted water pipe and a flooded kitchen floor, you don’t devise a comprehensive plan - you shut the water off. Then you address the problem of the busted pipe.
I’m not sure why Hillary is so adamantly against having secure borders in this country. The obvious answer is that she thinks she needs the “Latino Vote” to get elected. But I really wish she’d pay a little more attention to those of us who didn’t walk across the border last week. The Democrats, and Hillary in particular, seem to have lost any sort of connection they ever had with mainstream America.
Maybe she should run for President in Mexico.
