I am against foreign aid. I hate it. I don’t think that Americans should be paying taxes to the government, only to have those taxes turned over to foreign countries. If a private party wants to give money to the corrupt governments that have their hand out, so be it. Not my tax dollars, Jack. More often than not, said aid never reaches the people, but is wasted by a backwards government or band of thugs. But sometimes, the aid is so stunningly stupid (look at that alliteration Mrs. Schmidt) that I cannot believe this type of thing is even done:
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The House of Representatives ignored a White House veto threat and passed on Friday a foreign aid bill that would allow government donations of contraceptives to family planning groups outside the United States even though they engage in abortion activities.
The Democrats, and I say Democrats because the vote was 223-201, pretty much down party lines, want me to pay for rubbers for someone in Zimbabwe or some other Hell-hole, but don’t care that the money looted from the people shouldn’t be paying for safe sex in Suriname. Never mind that some Catholic tax payers object to the use of contraception, let’s give away condoms to abortionists in Albania.
No wonder the approval rating is at 14%. Stop throwing my money away. Give it back and let me put it to use.
