Rick Santorum 2012?

Sen. Rick Santorum is going to Iowa.

Former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum, the blunt-talking conservative who once was the No. 3 Senate Republican, will make appearances this fall in the early caucus state of Iowa.

John Brabender, his longtime political adviser, said Santorum will give a speech Oct. 1 at the University of Dubuque about the future of the Republican Party. He will attend a luncheon in Des Moines with an anti-abortion group.

There’s a lot of great people in Iowa, but it really only makes sense to give a speech “at the University of Dubuque about the future of the Republican Party” if you are considering a run for the Republican nomination for president in 2012. After all, Iowa is the first state primary/caucus.

Santorum’s people said, “President? Oh, thanks, but really, we’re just here to chat:”

Like other potential White House aspirants, he insisted it was too early to consider a presidential run. But he acknowledged that he was interested in taking a higher profile in the party.

“I’m very concerned about the state of affairs in this country and how Republicans are dealing with [issues], so this is an opportunity for me to go out and talk about things I think we need to be doing to turn this country in the right direction,” Santorum said of the Iowa trek — a visit invariably seen as presidential water-testing for any ambitious politician.

I just don’t know if Santorum has the presidential bug. He was at CPAC, walking around with Mark Levin, but that doesn’t mean he wants to be president.

Could be that he’s trying to get a little more visibility and this seems to be working. Either way, maybe I’ll go up there and get another picture with him.

Not my best hair day, but it was day three at CPAC. Gimme a break. And yes, that is Mark Levin on the other side. Great day at the convention.

Yes! I hope this guy runs….he is a loon 10x’s over. normal guy here:

In 1996, he had son born prematurely who lived for only two hours. He and wife brought the child home and introduced the dead infant to the rest of their children as “your brother Gabriel” and slept with the body overnight.

So, you won’t vote for a guy who loved his child after it was dead, but you will vote for a guy who allows babies to die alone in a soiled linen closet?

    Class act, Martin.

I don’t think I’d vote for him, but for different reasons.

Martin, do you have anything ‘constructive’ to say? most of the stuff you say just seems to be that of an angry old man who just wants to tear people down, not help fix problems. is that your intent?
