My AIP Column: What Do American Hospitals Have that Cuban Hospitals Don’t?

My latest column at American Issues Project is live. This week I wrote about the left’s love affair with Fidel Castro and the reality of the island prison he created. Here’s a taste:

Rep. Diane Watson is a useful idiot.

Watson, a Congressional representative from the People’s Republic of California, told a group of her constituents that Fidel Castro was a great leader who created a great health care system. She was literally gushing about this killer. You can listen to the audio and be the judge. To me, she sounds like a woman in love.

Thanks to Michelle Malkin, there is a transcript as well:

It was just mentioned to me by our esteemed speaker, “Did anyone say anything about the Cuban health system?”

And lemme tell ya, before you say “Oh, it’s a commu–”, you need to go down there and see what Fidel Castro put in place. And I want you to know, now, you can think whatever you want to about Fidel Castro, but he was one of the brightest leaders I have ever met.

A common line from the true believers on the left is that Cuba is a sick person’s paradise. Those who are sick get treatment and they get it regardless of social status, income or personal wealth. Everyone is treated the same.

Now let me tell you about this bridge I own in New York…

There is at least one thing that you can’t get in a Cuba hospital that every hospital in America provides. Actually, this equipment is generally found in every household in America, but in Cuba it’s so scarce, it costs the average Cuban two days pay.

You can read what that one thing is right here. And don’t forget to Stumble it. And tweet it. And add it to your Facebook page. And tell a friend about it.
