The administration has been pushing Joe out into the spotlight, and while in Pittsburgh he bragged about the number of jobs saved since they passed the Stimulus package. What’s more, he bragged about the millions of Americans who are getting unemployment insurance.
Really? That’s your claim to success? The millions of people on unemployment is now something to brag about? I also like how he takes Harry Truman’s words, made popular again by Ronald Reagan, and attributes them to his grandpa.
How many of those people on unemployment would have jobs but for Democrat meddling in the free market? How many were put out of work because of your social programs that caused this recession?
On this Labor day, let’s not be fooled by the rhetoric of this administration. Let’s look at the facts, which are that unemployment has risen to 9.7 percent even though this administration claimed the Stimulus package would halt the increase in unemployment and it would rise no higher than 8 percent:
“The president and Democrats in Congress claim this spending binge is necessary to put Americans back to work,’’ House Republican leader John Boehner said yesterday in the Republican radio and Internet address. “They promised unemployment would not rise above 8 percent if their trillion-dollar stimulus was passed.’’
The administration was wrong, Boehner said. “Unemployment has soared above 9 percent. And now the president admits that unemployment will soon reach double digits.
“After all of this spending, after all of this borrowing from China, the Middle East, our children, and our grandchildren, where are the jobs?’’ he said.
The fact is 3.1 million jobs have been lost since the Stimulus Bill was signed into law.
But hey brother, at least we have millions of people on unemployment, right?
UPDATE:
Via Doug Ross comes the scariest jobs chart ever:

a. why is he yelling
b. why is he touting that more people are on welfare now than ever before? wasn’t the stimulus supposed to provide JOBS, not welfare checks?
