Every government program is dependent on force. It’s that simple.
For example, the government mandate that you buy insurance. Obama is in favor of this mandate.
If you refuse to buy insurance, then you have to pay a fine.
But what if you refuse to pay the fine? Then someone with a gun shows up to take you to jail.
But what if you refuse to go to jail? Then the person who has asked you to go will point their gun at you and make you go.
In the People’s Republic of Massachusetts, they are considering a law that would send people to jail if they refused to take the H1N1 vaccination when instructed to by a police officer. If you refuse to go to jail, gun or taser comes out and eventually you go.
Force. It’s really the foundation of government action. Take any situation and walk it out to its endgame and you can find a government employee pointing a gun at a citizen and forcing them to do something.
If you think the above is over the top, consider the following from Politico:
Sen. John Ensign (R-Nev.) received a handwritten note Thursday from Joint Committee on Taxation Chief of Staff Tom Barthold confirming the penalty for failing to pay the up to $1,900 fee for not buying health insurance.
Violators could be charged with a misdemeanor and could face up to a year in jail or a $25,000 penalty, Barthold wrote on JCT letterhead. He signed it “Sincerely, Thomas A. Barthold.”
Walk through it and you see I’m right. The irony is, while you are in jail, you will get free health care.
