Eight months pregnant. That’s a fairly miserable time of a pregnancy, well past the “Oh I wish this were over already.” stage. I’ve had to leave my wife at home to work overnights when she was seven, eight or nine months pregnant, and know the worry of leaving her home alone, especially considering the Bobbi Jo Stinnett murder happened miles from where I live.
It’s stories like this, and the knowing about the loaded pump action 12 gauge in the house, that calm my fears:
Houston police say a pregnant woman shot and killed a man trying to break into her car.
…
“She looked out the window. She watched them break in to one car. And then, she watched as the males went over to her car. That’s when she retrieved the gun and fired one shot at them,” said Sgt C.D. Howard with the Houston Police Department.
The woman hit one of the men, killing him instantly. The others got away. The case is expected to be referred to a grand jury without charges.
Some of the comments on the thread applauded her, while one nearly incomprehensible one said she could have shot at the ground to scare them off.
What happens if they aren’t scared, but instead come after her? What happens if the gun malfunctions after the first one?
No, this isn’t Great Britain. Americans have a right to personal property and a right to defend it. If this criminal had not chosen to violate her rights, he would not be dead.
You chose the consequences of your actions, both intended and unintended.
Nice shooting.
