It’s good to know that our government is taking money from you and me, at gunpoint if you don’t give it up willingly, and making sure parents don’t have to take care of their kids. Any child under the age of 18 in Glendale Arizona – and across the country apparently – can show up and get a free breakfast and/or lunch paid for by the money the government takes out of the paycheck of honest and hard working people like you and I.
Barry Leimkuehler doesn’t care if your child attends a charter or private school or if your grandkid is visiting from Indiana.
If the child is under the age of 18 and in the Glendale (Arizona) Elementary School District’s 16 square miles boundaries, Leimkuehler, the district’s nutritional services director, wants folks to know that the child can get a free breakfast or lunch all summer long. Meals are served at 17 sites around Glendale.
“We know there are a lot more people who could take advantage of this. They just aren’t aware that we offer this,” Leimkuehler said. [source]
They’re working hard to increase the number of free meals they serve by about 20% this year. With all the Mexicans who are here in defiance of the law, I’m sure they won’t have any trouble finding more open mouths to spoon our tax dollars into.
This is another good example of a federal program that shouldn’t exist. Things like this should be handled by private charities. Donations would be tax deductible, and Americans would be able to make a choice to support it or not to support it rather than having the choice made for them by Uncle Sam.
