Three Navy SEALs are charged with assault for allegedly fattening the lip of a wanted terrorist. Ahmed Hashim Abed is wanted by the United States for being the “mastermind of the murder and mutilation of four Blackwater USA security guards in Fallujah in 2004.”
When he found himself in United States custody, he told the investigators he was punched by his captors. His bloody lip served as enough evidence to bring the three sailors up for Admiral’s Mast. They said they preferred a court martial:
Now, instead of being lauded for bringing to justice a high-value target, three of the SEAL commandos, all enlisted, face assault charges and have retained lawyers.
Matthew McCabe, a Special Operations Petty Officer Second Class (SO-2), is facing three charges: dereliction of performance of duty for willfully failing to safeguard a detainee, making a false official statement, and assault.
Petty Officer Jonathan Keefe, SO-2, is facing charges of dereliction of performance of duty and making a false official statement.
Petty Officer Julio Huertas, SO-1, faces those same charges and an additional charge of impediment of an investigation.
So rather than being congratulated on bringing in a terrorist subhuman, they are charged with swelling up his lip. Rather than being on a morgue table, he’s lawyering up.
Between this and the criminal trials of 9/11 terrorists, I’m starting to wonder if the Obama administration isn’t intentionally trying to destroy morale in the military.

This political cat and mouse is not what these fine hero’s have been trained for. Not should they be concerned to what condition their ‘target’ arrives in. Unfortunately the wonderful Navy men who carried out this operation now risk loosing their entire career which was hard earned and quite expensive to train for. Being the child of a Navy Gunner from an Air Craft Carrier during the Korean War I was taught values that permit me to be comfortable with the job these men do on my behalf on a more personal level. To them I remain grateful everlasting for the remaining safety of my family and my Nation. This is getting to the point of near satirical venue when things like this happen over terrorist’s who essentially should be jailed, force to watch their gallows built and promptly hung. Otherwise they should just be set before a firing squad. Having said that I shall always be on the side of ‘my’ soldiers, sailors, marines and any other die hard dedicated oath taker who risks their lives above and beyond their duty for the purpose of protecting our constitutional best interest. Being taught to ‘take no prisoners and make no negotiations’ by my father should instead be instituted rather than the unjust prosecution of these fine gentlemen over this issue. I shall pray for their exoneration. I shall hope that there are more of them out there willing to take risks. I shall also pray that any ‘terrorist’ furthermore is given not ‘justice afforded’ by our constitution but by immediate death at the hands of anyone else who finds the ‘target’. If Bush had pardoned the 2 border guards, they would have no way to clear their names, because a pardon is an admission of guilt. Pardons are ONLY for the GUILTY. Commuting their sentences allows them the option of appealing their convictions, should they so chose, and thereby clearing their names, which I hope they do. Bush did the same thing with Scooter Libby. Hope this clears up any misunderstanding.
