It was really a matter of time. The Obama administration couldn’t refrain from entering one of the largest wealth redistribution schemes in the history of the world, not could it? After all, “when you spread the wealth around, it’s good for everybody.“
The first move in getting America’s money spread around the world, to developing countries like, oh Mother Russia, is to declare carbon dioxide a danger to mankind.

The move, announced by Environmental Protection Agency administrator Lisa P. Jackson, comes as the largest climate change conference in history gets underway in Copenhagen. It finalizes an initial “endangerment finding” by the government in April.
Speaking in an ornate room at EPA headquarters, Jackson said that greenhouse gases are “disrupting the natural balance in our atmosphere and changing our climate . . . The overwhelming amount of scientific evidence shows the threat is real.”
Jackson said that she did not know when the EPA would reveal detailed plans for cutting greenhouse-gas emissions, or if the agency would wait to see if the U.S. Senate passes climate legislation early next year. Jackson said that legislation was still the best way to tackle the problem — but said she was not trying to prod Congress with Monday’s finding.
Instead, Jackson said, the administration was bound to follow the U.S. Supreme Court’s order in 2007 to determine if these emissions endanger public health.
“There are no more excuses for delay,” she said. “This administration will not ignore science and the law any longer.”
No, but they will ignore the Constitution for as long as they can.
Now, let’s discuss science for a second. Carbon dioxide levels are supposedly causing the Earth to warm to dangerously high temperatures, however, there is one small problem with that theory. From Coyote Blog:
CO2 does indeed absorb reflected sunlight returning to space from earth, having a warming effect. However, this effect is a diminishing return — each successive increment of CO2 concentrations will have a much smaller effect on temperatures than the previous increment. Eventually, CO2 becomes nearly saturated in its ability to absorb radiation. The effect is much like painting a red room with white paint. The first coat covers a lot of red but some still shows through. Each additional coat will make the room progressively whiter, but each successive coat will have a less noticeable effects than the previous coat, until the room is just white and can’t get any whiter.

Let’s look at a real result, below – the absorption spectrum for pure carbon dioxide plus an amount of water vapor equal to that in our current atmosphere as the sample and infrared radiation from a black body spectrum as the source. This is part of the so-called “greenhouse effect”
As we can see above, carbon dioxide absorbs infrared radiation (IR) in only three narrow bands of frequencies, which correspond to wavelengths of 2.7, 4.3 and 15 micrometers (µm), respectively. The percentage absorption of all three lines combined can be very generously estimated at about 8% of the whole IR spectrum, which means that 92% of the “heat” passes right through without being absorbed by CO2. In reality, the two smaller peaks don’t account for much, since they lie in an energy range that is much smaller than the where the 15 micron peak sits – so 4% or 5% might be closer to reality. If the entire atmosphere were composed of nothing but CO2, i.e., was pure CO2 and nothing else, it would still only be able to absorb no more than 8% of the heat radiating from the earth.
It seems they can ignore the science, as long as said science refutes rather than supports their political goals.
