And there was even a sign:
The student, Tammie Spates, 18, was fired upon when she arrived at the school. The shooter, believed to have been romantically involved with the teenager, was waiting for her, authorities said. The girl was struck by bullets several times in the upper body and was taken to LSU Hospital in Shreveport with wounds that are not believed to be life-threatening.
The school was on lockdown until about 10 a.m. Classes continued throughout the day, though several parents picked up their children early.
Police believe Spates was a specific target of the gunman, who is a former BTW student, and say the shooting was the result of a previous altercation between the two. Police are interviewing the Spates family to learn more about what may have led to the shooting. (Source.)
Prayers for Tammie. Let’s hope she makes a full and swift recovery. And here’s to the shooter, 28 year old Tony Holden, getting sent to prison very soon.
Finally, let’s hear it for Gun Free Zones. I mean, they really do the trick, don’t they?

You know what they’ll do, Duane. They’ll just make the signs more prominent.

Has anyone looked into the fact that the sign seems to be unclear, and have an ambiguous message? Hate to say it, but the designer of the sign is equally at fault with the gunmaker in this case.
