Hi Duane,

I've been doing my site (www.c3headlines.com) for 12 months. I had (have) no blogging goals. I don't allow comments. I don't do advertising on my site. I avoid the multiple blog widgets offered. I don't sell merchandise. Hey, I don't even have a blog roll. Yet I'm approaching 200,000 hits, and now, I'm finally on a regular 1,000+ views per day basis.

My secret? I absolutely have no clue, other than the content I'm interested in and push. I do know that I do a lot of work on presenting existing web content in a different manner - here's a monthly sample of that, which has has been popular with my readers:

http://www.c3headlines.com/2009/12/as-of-november-30-2009-decade-cooling-trend-is-now-87f-per-century.html

I definitely don't focus on web metrics, or the usual measured blog success criteria, which is more than evident: look at www.c3headlines.com . Yet, I get a lot of visitors and I think it's because of the passion, and the content that I publish in a slightly different manner.

Duane, forget the goals, objectives, metrics, expert advice, analytics, and etc. Instead, lead with your passion, your heart, and do things a little bit different than the "consensus."

Duane - I think it once was said that great minds think alike! This is exactly where I was planning on going when I launch my new blog on January 1st - Four Walls and A View!

I have to commend you for writing this post. It is never an easy thing to be transparent especially in the day and age we are living in. That made your post that much better. I guess it's time for me to write out my goals for 2010 eh?! LOL Happy New Year to you and your family! And may 2010 be the year you meet your goals!

Duane, you are a person of excellence. This kind of planning and honest analysis is the foundation for success, which anyone can predict will hunt you down very soon. Kudos!

Oh, and I have added you to my Flock tabs now in addition to my lengthy RSS list. I'll visit more often and share as I can. Happy New Year!

Duane, don't be so hard on yourself. You provide a unique service for those of us who are somewhat likeminded. Let's look at the things you have done quite well. You have given direction to many who are involved in the conservative movement. Your blog has informed on crucial issues, many times a day or two ahead of my other favorites Nealz Nuze, and Fox News. That by itself is an accomplishment. Keep up the good work! We appreciate you.
