Mother of the Year Nominee: Leaves Kids in Freezing Car While Tanning

I am all about freedom, but sometimes I wonder if there shouldn’t be some kind of license to procreate:

Candy Ann Rock of Enfield was charged with reckless endangerment and risk of injury to children after Tuesday’s alleged incident at an Enfield parking lot.

Enfield Police Chief Carl Sferrazza told the Journal Inquirer that Rock left her two children — ages 3 and just under 1 year — in the parked car, which was not running, for 18 minutes during her tanning session. He says weather reports showed it was about 28 degrees at the time.

The kids weren’t hurt.  They were just in peril.

Honestly, how could you think leaving two babies in a car without heat in freezing temperatures was the right thing to do?  How hard is it to reschedule a tanning session?  Does this lady not have any friends that could go with her and watch the kids?

How many different solutions to I have to come up with?  I don’t think the kids need to be taken from her, but she needs some kind of punishment.

What do you think?

Public shame will (hopefully) be her punishment.

Andrew, the girl’s clearly not bright enough to quite grasp the full impact of shame. Lost on her. She’ll go get another tan with a sitter this time and feel just fine.

Trust me when I say that parents who have had a child die, run away or be otherwise abused by another hand do not read these stories and get a chuckle. They want to pile drive her into a snow drift.

    Seriously.
