I’m not sure if it’s the Democrat’s bold attempts at taking the country to the left, the Republicans abandonment of conservative values over the past few years or a combination of the two (most likely), but conservatives are stirred up about victory in 2010 and a return conservative values in Washington.
One thing: it takes more than going to a rally and holding a sign. It takes more than blogging about Obama, Pelosi and Reid.
If you are really serious about changing the party, you have to be active. Here’s three easy ways you do it.
Find out who is on your county committees. For example, since I live in Missouri, I binged the Missouri Republican Party.
On their site, I can and who is on the committee for my county. The contact information allows you to get a hold of the members. Then you find out when the next committee meeting is, and you make sure to attend it.
Without being a visible member of party, then a influential member, you really are just talking a good game. By attending these meetings, you can help shape the direction of the committee.
Another thing you can do is volunteer for a candidate’s campaign.
In Missouri, we have the two great families of politics going for the same Senate seat. Since I would much rather seen Rep. Roy Blunt holding that seat than Robin Carnahan, I went to the Roy Blunt for Senate 2010 website and started my own page.
What was cool is how his campaign has integrated the Internet into his site. Rather than having to spend a lot of time filling out a profile, I could just import everything from Facebook.
Then I invited some of my conservative brethren from Missouri to join me.
It was really simple.
Finally, I can donate to conservatives. After CPAC.
These are just a couple actions you can take to get involved in the process. If you are serious about a return to conservative values, show it. Get involved.
How else can you get involved and make an impact in the 2010 elections? Leave your suggestions in the comments below.
